Join Peter and this wonderful group of South Africans for a hiking trail in and around Port Elizabeth.
Coming to Port Elizabeth for a holiday or for business and you need to get out and have a bit of light exercise?  This is an ideal way to get to meet local people and to explore parts of Port Elizabeth that many tourists miss.

Today we are hiking the trail from Settlers Park to Dodds Farm below 9th Avenue, Walmer.  There are 23 in the group including Zama who is a ranger in the reserve and who joins the group as a leader and for our safety.
We start in the Parking Area at the top of Settlers Park off Hallack Road.

After the first descent into the Valley we cross the Baakens River.  The stepping stones makes crossing relatively easy despite the fast flow of water after recent rains.
Soon after the first crossing, Zama takes us up a steep hill which leads towards 5th Avenue Walmer although we turn back down long before reaching the park area.
There are a couple of complaints as not everyone had this steep climb in mind.
We pass this home at the bottom of Lloyd Road, Walmer.
On the West side of Target Kloof we cross the stone weir on the the cycle trail which has been set up by Fat Tracks cycle club.
We are treated to spring flowers on the trail.
Zama sits down to a snack at the half way break at Dodds Farm.
This is  a kind of amphitheater in the area known as Dodds farm where, although overgrown, the rangers have kept the area clean of vagrants mess. Here we break for a fruit or sandwich.

Would you like to join me for a Walk and then a tour of the Kragga Kamma wildlife Reserve where you could see Rhino; Giraffe; Zebra; Wildebeest; Cheetah and various Antelope.  This is an ideal way to get to know about South African people and its beautiful wildlife.
