FEBRUARY Saturday 13th. Kabeljous hiking trail.

FEBRUARY Saturday 13th.   Kabeljous hiking trail.

Start of the Kabeljous Hiking trail.

I have arranged a Hiking Trail with a small group.

On the trail at Kabeljous this Saturday are -- Janny; Ingrid Conradie;  Susan;   and Jeanne Botha.   Bertus Geldenhuys and his family:  Christein;  JP and Jana.   Carryn (Duffield);  Brad Duplessis with Luke and Sarah.  Dominique with Saverne and Eden;  Teresa and Rina.  Gerhard and Linda Du Raan join us at the start.

It is a wam day.  Slightly overcast and a cooling breeze coming off the sea helps us to stay cool.   We walk to the Crossroads and turn left to the Wetlands which are unfortunately almost completely dry.   A stop at the beach where many of the group enjoy a swim.  This is probably the highlight of our morning.  We climb the dunes for our snack before walking down to the Lagoon and back to the cars.

Part of the group is able to meet at the Suikerbossie Padstal for a beverage and pancake.   We start a small game of Scrabble before heading home.   This was a great morning for a hike with some wonderful people.

Something amazing that we saw was while walking -- A wasp flew in under me and attacked a Grasshopper.  He proceded to cling to it and sting it.  Then once incapacitated the wasp enfolded the poor grasshopper in its legs and flew off with it.   Unfortunately all done before I had the presense of mind to take a pic.

Compared to the last time we were here in 2020 the trail is dry -- almost no flowers.
At the beach Cairn.
