Hiking on the beaches of Kini Bay near to Port Elizabeth.  With Peter Giddy Guided Tours.  Wednesday 5th June 2019

This was our small, but brave group of ten walkers who hiked in a strong west wind on beaches that, at times, sand blasted our faces.

Everyone was hooded up against the wind.  Where we were forced to walk on the sandy beaches, we were stung by the sand blowing on any part of the body that was exposed.

Dennis led the walk today.  following him are Flo and daughter Michaela
The hike back was directly into the west wind and some of the group were pretty much exhausted by the time we had completed the hike of about 10km.

Today we walked from Kini Bay in an easterly direction for about 5km where we stopped for a short break before turning back into the wind.
A couple of walkers were nearly blown off their feet particularly where the path was narrow or where we had to detour due to marshy sections. And on the way back we had to fight against both the power of the wind and the sand blasting into our faces. A couple of the hikers were clearly exhausted and very pleased to be back at the cars in Kini Bay.

I offer a wonderful hiking experience for visitors to Port Elizabeth.  Moderate exercise where you get to meet Locals. This is combined with a Wildlife Experience of Kragga Kamma (Giraffe; Rhino; Antelope; Zebra and Wildebeest) or you can choose the Daniel Cheetah Project for an afternoon excursion where you learn about the big predators of South Africa.

To join one of these hikes -- Contact Peter as above.
